At least three people drowned in a boat
accident that happened in Aloro Village,
Lagos Island, on Thursday Oct 6, 2011
The accident involved a commercial boat
conveying passengers from Kirikiri to Aloro
Village.
Based on the information received from the
Marine Section of the Lagos State Police
Command, the speed boat was conveying
passengers, comprising of traders and
workers when the accident happened,
adding that the boat was already at the
midstream when it developed a mechanical
fault which eventually led to its capsizing,
throwing all the passengers on board into
the lagoon.
2 among the deceased were identified as
Jimmy and Segun while the last person is
yet to be identified.
The Local fishermen acted swiftly and were
able to rescue eight other passengers from
drowning.
The state’s police spokesperson, Samuel
Jinadu, confirmed the accident, adding that
the remains of the recovered bodies had
been deposited at the mortuary.
