Eleven people have died in a truck crash, the
second reported lethal truck accident in the
past week in Nigeria’s northeast.
A Federal Road Safety Commission official
said a fuel-bearing truck collided with a 16-
seater minibus on Monday morning along
the Damaturu-Potiskum Road in Yobe State.
An eyewitness, Hassan Safana, said five
people were seriously injured.
Musa Abdurrahman, the only survivor to
have escaped relatively unhurt, said the
tanker driver swerved to the opposite lane
in a bid to overtake the minibus, and
rammed into the bus when he found that
there were two oncoming vehicles.
Authorities said a truck accident on
Thursday in neighbouring Gombe State
killed 19 people.
