UBA Foundation launches 2011 Scholarship Essay Contest for Nigerian Secondary Schools

The UBA Foundation has launched a new
scholarship essay contest for Senior
secondary school students in Nigeria. The
best three entries shall be awarded full
scholarship to study in a Nigerian university.
The best essay writer will win a one million
naira (N1,000,000) scholarship. Second
position will receive a seven hundred and
fifty thousand naira (N750,000) scholarship,
while the third position gets a five hundred
thousand naira (N500,000) scholarship.
The cash prize will serve as the total sum of
scholarship for that individual four years
duration in the university. However, she
added that in a situation where a SS1
students won, such money will be kept until
he gains admission into the university.
The essay competition, to be known as the
‘UBA Foundation National Essay Competition
in Nigeria’ commenced on Monday
September 12, 2011 and entries will close at
the end of October 2011.
How to Enter
Submit a handwritten essay of not less than
seven hundred and fifty (750) words on the
topic “Me and My Career” and send it to the
UBA Foundation office in Lagos.
Address
UBA House, 57 Marina, P.O. Box 2406, Lagos,
Nigeria.
Eligibility
Entrants should be registered students of a
senior secondary school in Nigeria.
Selection
At the end of October 2011 when entries
close, three renowned Nigerian Professors
will review the entries and select an initial
shortlist for further assessment.
Deadline
End of October. However, you are advised to
send your entries early to ensure it reaches
the UBA Foundation office before the
deadline.
Prize
The best essay writer will win a cash prize
of one million naira (N1,000,000) only.
Second position will receive a cash prize of
seven hundred and fifty thousand naira
(N750,000) only, while the third position
gets five hundred thousand naira
(N500,000)
Thecash prize will serve as the total sum of
scholarship for that individual four years
duration in the university.
All winners will be “UBA Scholars”
The scholarship is open to students in
private and public secondary schools who
intend to pursue university education in
Nigeria. If you know anyone who might
